(November 3), the 2023 Global Hard Technology Innovation Conference opened in Xi'an. At the opening ceremony, a series of major scientific and technological achievements were released. One of them is a crystalline silicon-perovskite tandem solar cell independently developed by my country's photovoltaic companies, which broke the world record in this field with a photoelectric conversion efficiency of 33.9%.
According to the latest certification from international authoritative organizations, the efficiency of crystalline silicon-perovskite stacked cells independently developed by Chinese companies has reached 33.9%, breaking the previous record of 33.7% set by a Saudi research team and becoming the current global leader in stacked solar cell efficiency. highest record.
Liu Jiang, technical expert at LONGi Green Energy Central Research Institute:
By superimposing a layer of wide-bandgap perovskite material on top of the original crystalline silicon solar cell, its theoretical limit efficiency can further reach 43%.
Photoelectric conversion efficiency is the core indicator for evaluating the potential of photovoltaic technology. Simply put, it allows solar cells of the same area and absorbing the same light to emit more electricity. Based on the global newly installed photovoltaic capacity of 240GW in 2022, even a 0.01% increase in efficiency can generate an additional 140 million kilowatt-hours of electricity every year.
Jiang Hua, deputy secretary-general of China Photovoltaic Industry Association:
Once this high-efficiency battery technology is truly mass-produced, it will be of great benefit to promote the growth of the entire photovoltaic market in my country and even the world.
